Parish Nurse Jobs
Parish Nursing is based on the idea that nursing can be part of a healing ministry. Parish nurses perform more than typical assessments. These faith-based healthcare workers are as much health educators and counselors as they are medical professionals. Parish nurses administer nursing care to the entire congregation from the very young to the elderly. Individuals interested in this type of nursing are members of a particular religious community and act as strong advocates for a large patient base. Parish Nurses must be resourceful individuals and have a thorough knowledge of public and community resources. A Parish Nurse must possess the sensitivity to effectively deal with issues such as teen pregnancy, abortion, drug abuse, domestic violence as well as end of life issues. The ability to weigh a patient's personal choice against religious teachings without ridicule or admonishment is a quality most often called upon in this type of nursing.
