House Supervisor Nursing Jobs

Registered nurses in this role are the supervisors for the entire hospital on every given shift. They are responsible for placement of new admissions to the appropriate unit, monitoring discharge activity and ensuring adequate staffing numbers at all times. Keeping the "head count" of the in-patient population is a large part of this position. House supervisors respond to all Rapid Responses and Codes Blue or Red in the hospital as well as any other emergency situations. The minimum requirement for bidding on such a position is usually three years of clinical experience. The house supervisor must possess good organization skills and a cool head as in addition to the previously mentioned duties, they are responsible for discipline on evenings, nights and weekends. A thorough knowledge of the organizational policies are required as the house supervisor is frequently called upon to speak to the news media at times of interest and serve as the hospital representative with patient and family complaints. This position reports to the Vice President of Nursing or higher management personnel.
