Home Health Nursing Jobs

The home health nurse may be a private duty nurse hired on a contractual basis by a patient or family or they may work for a home health care agency. Nurses are usually certified in BLS (Basic Life Support, at the Provider Level). The typical requirement for working as a home health care nurse is past work on a medical-surgical floor. Home health care nurses provide care such as IV drug administration, trach care, assessment, rehabilitation and general wellness visits. Home health nurses may also be required to do light housekeeping, meal preparation and shopping trips, although these are not routine expectations. A home health nurse enjoys a close personal relationship with their patient as the nurse sees the patient in the home environment. Assessments of the home environment and whether it is conducive to the patient's healing is an important quality and job performance standard of home health nursing.
