Camp Nurse Jobs
Camp Nursing Jobs
A camp nurse should have a love of the outdoors and not expect anything resembling a normal schedule. For the most part a camp nurse is on duty 24/7, but may enjoy one full day and one night off-duty for the duration of the summer. Camp nurses should enjoy working with young people, and it is possible for new graduate nurses to begin their career here. These nurses are involved in providing care for the campers as well as the staff. Nurses in this setting enjoy a great deal of autonomy. Assessing a camper's minor injuries and making the decision to involve a physician or transport to a medical care facility are required assessment skills of the camp nurse. Camp nurses administer prescribed medications, fill out insurance forms, and supervise the camp's infirmary. Nurses must keep all first aid supplies stocked and reorder as necessary. Many camp nurses work in this setting because their children are enrolled at the camp.
